Matthew 8:14-22 Follow me

14. And when Jesus was come into Peter's house, he saw his wife's mother laid, and sick of a fever.

15. And he touched her hand, and the fever left her: and she arose, and ministered unto them.

16. When the even was come, they brought unto him many that were possessed with devils: and he cast out the spirits with his word, and healed all that were sick:

17. That it might be fulfilled which was spoken by Esaias the prophet, saying, Himself took our infirmities, and bare our  sicknesses.

18.Now when Jesus saw great multitudes about him, he gave commandment to depart unto the other side.

19. And a certain scribe came, and said unto him, Master, I will follow thee whithersoever thou goest.

20. And Jesus saith unto him, The foxes have holes, and the birds of the air have nests; but the Son of man hath not where to lay his head.

21. And another of his disciples said unto him, Lord, suffer me first to go and bury my father.

But Jesus said unto him, Follow me; and let the dead bury their dead.

1. We must seek the Lord's touch.

Do you have a family member with a fever of pleasure, addiction, and lethargy that you can't get over on your own?
Are you begging the Lord to touch him?
Isn't that person just avoiding him saying he doesn't have an answer?

 

Peter's mother-in-law was bedridden with a fever, and when Jesus touched her hand, the fever left her. If you think evangelism will be impossible because you have no answer, or if you have a family member who cannot expect a change, you must pray that the Lord will see and touch you. When I admit that I cannot solve this fever on my own and pray for it, the fever that has made the whole family sick will be healed.

 

 

2. We must bring the weak to the Lord.

Who are the family members and members I should bring to the seat of the Word?
What patience and dedication do I have to show them to do that?

We must first become disciples of Jesus so that the Lord will take care of our sick family members.

 

3. To follow the Lord, we must do more important things than urgent matters.

Are you guided by the Word every day, and are you discerning between urgent and important matters?
So, what are you choosing between urgent and important work?

 

Fathers and family are important, but the work of salvation should be more important than family. It does not mean abandoning family obligations, but setting a Christian example of patience and forgiveness for the salvation of the family. That is your best obligation to your family.
